Who We Are
AMACOD Uganda is a Women focused, Women led Organization operating in Lango sub region since 2013 and registered with URSB since December, 2017.
AMACOD’s core work is based on empowering communities to shape the destiny of their society by investing in Women and Girls’ talents. AMACOD believes that poverty has inverse relationship with well-developed human capital and with passage of time and opportunities; societies can fulfill their aspirations or miss them.
But, if communities invest their resources including time on building human capital for change and development guided by a mentor, relationships will be nurtured with the participants’ capacity enhanced to identify and tap into existing development ideas, opportunities and resources whose investments have a likelihood to grow provided there is commitment to innovation, creativity, leadership diligence/conscientiousness, transparent accountability at all times.
AMACOD Uganda focuses on women and girls’ contribution to development based on Uganda’s state of economy. While Uganda registers it’s macroeconomic performance with men harnessing the benefits, the persistent gender inequalities has hindered women from harnessing equal benefits. However; the women and girls make enormous positive contribution through agriculture, business, industries, trade and care work which are often undervalued hence accounting for over 60% of the poor who are women. Notably, the conflict in Northern Uganda created a generation of female headed households as a result of humanitarian action programing subsequently brooding a generation of children and youth who are vulnerable to poverty. Poverty is further exacerbated by patriarchy that is more pronounced among women who are normally suppressed and there is selective integration of gender concerns.
